Inspiration Comes From The Strangest Places

249.9 pounds. + 0.5 pounds today, - 83.1 pounds overall, - 2.1 pounds toward my goal of losing 10 pounds in January.

Sometimes inspiration doesn’t come from a book, a podcast, or a perfectly planned moment. Sometimes it shows up when you least expect it.

This week I traveled to Dallas, and on my way home I had one of those unexpected encounters that stuck with me. I had to check in at the counter, and because the computers were moving painfully slow, I ended up chatting with the agent helping me for about ten minutes.

As we talked, I noticed a huge water container sitting near him. I asked about it and he told me it holds a full gallon of water. He added that he drinks that much every day, and sometimes even a gallon and a half. Wow, that's a lot.

This guy was in fantastic shape. Clearly healthy. Clearly disciplined. And he said this one habit makes him feel great every single day.

It also made me realize something about myself. I don’t usually think much about hydration. On most days, even when I work out, I’m probably only drinking about 20 ounces of water. That's way too little.

I don’t necessarily need a massive gallon jug like he has, but seeing it made the habit visible. It made it concrete. It made me realize that if I want to feel better, perform better, and support my health goals, I need to be more intentional about something as basic as drinking water.

What inspired me most wasn’t the container itself. It was how this guy had clearly “rigged” his day for success. The water was right there. Easy to see. Easy to drink. Hard to ignore.

That’s what I want to do now: find ways to rig my own day in favor of better hydration. More water within reach. More reminders. Fewer excuses.

It’s a small change, but those are often the ones that add up the fastest.

Inspiration really can come from anywhere if you’re paying attention.

What’s something you do that helps you drink more water throughout your day?
