244.0 pounds, - 0.2 pounds today, - 89.0 pounds overall, 11.0 pounds from my goal of losing 100 pounds.
Yesterday I followed my plan perfectly. I walked for 2 miles, ate right, and didn’t eat after 5 p.m. When I stepped on the scale this morning, I was expecting a big loss but instead I was down only 0.2 pounds.
At first, I was disappointed. I’ve seen bigger drops from doing the same thing in the past, and I couldn’t help but wonder why not this time?
Then I realized something important. Part of my frustration comes from comparison, especially through social media.
Social media can be a powerful tool, but it can also be a trap. When it comes to weight loss, it’s easy to scroll through pictures of celebrities or everyday people showing off dramatic results and feel jealous or discouraged. You see people losing weight faster or more dramatically than you are, and instead of feeling inspired, you start feeling like you’re not doing enough.
But the truth is that everyone’s body responds differently. Our timelines, our challenges, and our victories are uniquely our own. Comparing your progress to someone else’s is like comparing two different stories—you’ll always miss the full context.
The solution is to stop letting social media define your expectations, stop comparing timelines, and stay focused on your lane.
Losing 0.2 pounds is still progress. It’s proof that what I’m doing works, even if the pace isn’t dramatic. The key is to stay consistent, stay grounded, and remember that small steps still move you forward.
Progress is progress, no matter the number. Stop Comparing, Start Celebrating Progress.
