247.2 pounds, + 0.2 pounds today, - 85.8 pounds overall, 14.2 pounds from my goal of losing 100 pounds.
Yesterday I veered off track. After losing more than a pound the day before, I let my guard down and didn’t follow my plan as closely as I should have. The result? I gained 0.2 pounds. Not a big deal, but enough to remind me how easy it is to slip into that “all or nothing” mindset.
For a long time, I thought I had to follow my plan perfectly to be successful. If I missed a step or had one off day, I felt like I had failed. But I’m learning that perfection isn’t the goal, consistency is.
That’s where the 80/20 rule comes in. Stay on track most of the time and allow a little flexibility for real life. Because life happens, dinners out, birthdays, stressful days, and that’s okay. What matters is getting back on track afterward.
So today I did just that. I followed my plan, the same plan that’s been helping me make steady progress, and it feels good to be back in rhythm.
The truth is, one off day doesn’t erase your hard work. The key is to keep moving forward, one consistent day at a time.
Let’s trade perfection for progress and remember that 80 percent effort done consistently beats 100 percent effort abandoned after burnout every time.
P.S. Have you struggled with perfectionism in your health journey? Hit reply and tell me what helps you stay consistent. I’d love to hear your strategy.
