Walking on Air

248.3 pounds, - 1.3 pounds today, - 84.4 pounds overall, 15.3 pounds from my goal of losing 100 pounds!

I had an awesome 2-mile hike yesterday and the difference was simple: I didn’t use my weighted vest. I felt like I was walking on air.

I might use the vest again in the future, but when I do, I’m going to start slowly with very little weight. I can add 6 pounds at a time, and that’s the approach I’ll take. Yesterday helped me realize that carrying too much too soon was holding me back. The weight pressed on my chest from both front and back, and the pressure on my shoulders wasn’t enjoyable.

All the more reason to go slow when I bring the vest back. The key to all of this is keeping it fun. Last night’s hike reminded me why I love walking, and I can’t wait to do it again tonight. The vest will be there when I’m ready—but for now, I’m just enjoying the journey.

Lesson learned: Progress is important, but joy keeps you moving forward.
