Sometimes, it’s not about losing weight.

Yesterday, I didn’t lose any weight—but I didn’t gain any either. What I did gain was something just as valuable: a deep sense of connection to nature and time well spent with my son.

I got out for my 2-mile hike and later we took the kayak down the St. Croix River in the late afternoon. Along the way, we saw an otter, a beaver, an eagle, and a deer bounding from an island to the shore. And then, something truly incredible—a small black bear on the edge of the island. As we floated by, we watched it swim across the river right in front of us. It was amazing.

That trip was a powerful reminder: this journey isn’t just about the scale. It’s about living fully, being present, and enjoying the process.
