Yesterday, I faced one of my biggest temptations: pizza. And I won.

I was given a piece of pizza — just one — and I did something I don’t think I’ve ever done before: I stopped after eating only that one piece.

The pizza was delicious. Absolutely. But the real victory wasn’t in how good it tasted — it was in how I approached it. I didn’t devour it mindlessly or let it trigger a binge. I was intentional, and that made all the difference.

Here’s what helped me succeed:

  1. I took my time. I didn’t rush through it. I slowed down and savored every bite.

  2. I ate the toppings one by one. This kept me from eating too fast and let me enjoy each part of the pizza more fully — the cheese, the sauce, the crust.

  3. I stayed mindful. No distractions, no TV, no scrolling on my phone. I stayed present and let myself enjoy the experience.

  4. I drank plenty of water. That helped slow me down and made me feel full and satisfied.

Normally, one slice would lead to two… then three… then the whole pizza. Not this time.

This time, I walked away from the table feeling in control and proud. I also got outside and walked 2 miles and skipped a meal during the day as part of my intermittent fasting routine. The result? I lost 1.1 pounds.

It was a good day — not just because of the number on the scale, but because I proved to myself that I can make mindful, balanced choices.

So here’s my question to you:
How do you fight the urge to overeat?
I’d love to hear your tips and strategies — we’re all in this together.
