The scale was up more than a pound this morning. And you know what? I’m not upset.
Last night I took my daughter out to eat, and it was totally worth it. These are the moments that matter — enjoying time together, making memories, and yes, sharing a good meal. I even skipped a meal earlier in the day to help balance things out, but the scale still crept up. It happens.
That’s life. This journey isn’t just about discipline — it’s also about balance and joy. And last night brought both.
That said, today is going to be a real test. I’m headed to a wedding reception where they’ll be serving some of the best Italian food buffet-style — basically my personal kryptonite. Buffets have always been a challenge for me. Something about the variety and abundance triggers that “eat like there’s no tomorrow” mindset.
But this time, I’m going in with a plan.
✅ Drink lots of water beforehand
✅ Fill up on salad first
✅ Focus on one plate — not three
✅ Remind myself I don’t have to earn enjoyment by overeating
I know how easy it is to lose control in these situations, but I also know I’m stronger than that voice that says “just go for it.” I’ve come too far to throw it all off for one meal — no matter how delicious.
Wish me well — I’ll need it today! And if you’ve got any strategies for surviving buffets, I’m all ears.
