Navigating the Weekend — One Choice at a Time

What do you do to avoid making impulsive decisions on the weekend?
I’d genuinely love to know—because let’s be honest, weekends are tough.

I just got home from a week on the road. Lots of driving, lots of food options, and plenty of opportunities to veer off course. But I stayed focused. I stayed connected. And I’m happy to report:
I lost over a pound.
That feels so good.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned on this journey, it’s this:
Health isn’t won or lost in one day.
It’s built over time—choice by choice, day by day.
All I have to do is focus on today, and give it my best. So that’s exactly what I’m doing.

Yesterday was a challenge. I had to get up at 2:30 a.m. to catch a flight home, and once I landed, I jumped right into a full day of work. It was a battle just to stay awake until bedtime. I didn’t eat particularly well, but all the movement and stress of travel added up—and somehow, the scale moved in my favor this morning.

Now it’s Saturday—a day that’s usually tricky for me.
Weekends don’t have the same structure, and I’ve noticed that’s when impulsive decisions sneak in. I had planned to do outdoor chores like mowing the lawn, but we’ve had over three inches of rain and more on the way, so those plans are off. I might go for a walk just to move my body and reset my mind.

I’ll be honest—I don’t love going into a weekend without a plan. That “I’ll just see what happens” mindset rarely ends well. But I’m aware of it now. I’m paying attention. I’m doing my best to stay intentional, even when things feel a little uncertain.

We’ll see what today brings.
We’ll see what the scale says tomorrow.
And whatever happens—I’m staying in it.

If you’ve got any strategies for staying grounded over the weekend, drop them in the comments. I’d love to hear what works for you.

Let’s keep going—one decision, one day, one weekend at a time.
