Do you ever find it hard to keep things in perspective? I know I do, especially when my expectations aren't met. The problem isn't necessarily with the reality of the situation. The problem lies with my expectations not being met.

Yesterday I had a great day. I followed my plan exactly. I didn't eat after 5 p.m., although my wife had made wonderful food that I was so tempted to eat. I exercised in Zone 2 for 30 minutes and I had a good night of sleep. I've lost weight really consistently this month so I was expecting to lose weight again and to be rewarded on the scale this morning. Imagine my surprise when that didn't happen, when I found out that I gained weight.

My weight gain was minimal, only 0.2 pounds, but it was the fact that I gained weight when I expected to lose weight that bothered me. I had been on a roll, I had followed my plan perfectly, and I still gained weight rather than losing it. Oh well, time to move on.

Today is going to be a great day. It is a Saturday so there isn't the structure that I like, but I'll live with that. I need to make sure that I don't eat after 5 p.m. and that I exercise in Zone 2 for 30 minutes and that I get a good night of sleep. If I can do these things I expect to lose weight. We'll see what happens today and we'll see what the scale says tomorrow morning!
