Have you ever noticed how a sports team will have a huge victory in one game by beating a difficult opponent, only to lose to a team they should easily beat in the next game? This happens with our health as well. You have a moment of great inspiration and you go all out to have a huge victory by doing something dramatic in terms of eating or exercising and you lose a large amount of weight. But before long, perhaps the next day even, you go in the opposite direction and you end up gaining more weight than you originally lost. This phenomenon is the reason why you should focus on small wins rather than big wins. Small wins over time lead to big wins, but big wins that are not regular backfire.

Yesterday I was focused on a small win and I achieved it. I ate a little better than the day before and I lost a little weight, 0.2 pounds. It wasn't much, but it was something. It was progress in the right direction so I have to be pleased with that.

Today I am going to try to do what I did yesterday to see if I can achieve another small win, and if I string enough of those together it will result in a big win. I have a full day of work to keep me busy and I'm planning on not eating tonight. We'll see how the day goes and what happens today and we'll see what the scale says tomorrow morning.
