I went into the day with a plan to attack the challenge I faced last night and it worked! Last night my wife and I went to Costco to buy groceries. I typically take samples or visit the food court. Either way I end up eating too much. Last night I resolved ahead of time to not eat at Costco and even though we were in there for nearly an hour, my plan worked. My food challenge didn't stop with Costco. My wife had us drive through Cane's Chicken for chicken strips for her and our daughter. Their food is delicious, as evidence my the line of cars we had to wait behind. I somehow managed to not order any food from Cane's, which was a major victory for me. I credit my success in avoiding temptation at Costco for my ability to avoid food at Cane's. I didn't want to quickly lose my victory in a momentary lapse of will power at Cane's. I also reminded myself that I had a date with the scale this morning and I didn't want to be disappointed when I stepped on the scale.
Imagine my surprise when I stepped on the scale this morning and saw that I lost over 2 pounds. What a great feeling and a great reminder to not blow it today. I want to string multiple successful days in a row.
I'm not sure that I'll be able to replicate my success again today, but I'll try. We have an event tonight at my daughter's school where food will be served. I don't know if it will be a buffet or not, so I'll have to see how that plays itself out. Buffets are my kryptonite as I don't seem to have an "off" switch when the food is endless. I need to resolve right now to just have one serving of food, to eat is slowly, and let my head catch up with my stomach in realizing that I'm full. We'll see what happens tonight and we'll see what the scale says tomorrow mornin
