Progress isn't going to be made every day. Some days just don't go the way you like. The question is, what are you going to do the next day. Today is the day I need to answer that question.

Yesterday I didn't follow my plan. That's pretty clear from the number on the scale this morning, as I gained over 2 pounds. Yesterday I ate after 5 p.m. and I ate a lot. My wife made a fantastic chicken masala recipe and it was glorious. Not only did I eat after 5 p.m. but I had a few helpings of the food and I also ate a huge amount of pumpkin seeds. We went to a pumpkin patch to get 5 pumpkins to carve and as is our tradition, we bake the seeds and have a delicious snack. Pumpkin seeds aren't fattening, but when you eat a huge amount of them they add to the weight gain.

Today I need to try to turn the tide, but it isn't going to be easy. My daughter is home from college and I'm taking her out to lunch. We are going to a wonderful new seafood restaurant in Stillwater called D.J.'s Clam Shack. I can't wait. As I'm typing I'm realizing that there is little hope for me to not put on weight today. The good news is that this restaurant doesn't have a buffet, or it would be all over for me. Maybe I can avoid eating after 5 p.m. and that will help. We'll see what happens today and we'll see what the scale says tomorrow morning!
