I knew the results on the scale were not going to be what I wanted to see, but I needed to see the number anyway. That which gets measured gets done. Studies prove this. Those who weigh themselves daily lose more weight than those who don't. So as painful as it is to get on the scale when you know you've gained weight, you need to do it. That is the point, right? You need to be dealing with reality and connecting the dots in your mind that if you overeat you will gain weight, but if you follow a reasonable plan you will lose weight.

Last night was fantastic. The whole family was together celebrating a birthday. We grilled steaks and had a fabulous desert of yellow cake with chocolate frosting. My favorite! I thought that I would only have a little food but I ate a lot. I knew I would gain weight this morning, but it was worth it. It was so fun to be together as a family, and food is a great part of the celebration.

Today is going to be a good day. It is the weekend so that is always difficult in terms of eating since there isn't a normal schedule to keep me on track. I have a lot of projects to do around the house, so if I can keep from eating too much, and if I don't eat after 5 p.m. I am confident that I'll lose weight. We'll see what happens today and we'll see what the scale says tomorrow morning!
