How I wish that progress happened consistently and went in a straight line. Unfortunately, that isn't how this works. There are days of success and days of setbacks, but the key to success in the long run is to keep fighting.

Even though I know this is true, it doesn't make it easy. Unless I am going to go on a weight loss drug that turns off my appetite, I'm going to struggle and not every day is going to go how I would like. As long as I learn from my mistakes and keep fighting, eventually I'll get to where I want to be. In my case, that is to lose 100 pounds.

Yesterday I didn't follow my plan at all. I ate too much, I ate after 5 p.m. I didn't exercise, and I didn't get 8 hours of sleep. I knew I was going to gain weight, the only question was how much would I gain.

Last night we watched the election results come in. The election wasn't called until well after midnight and I stayed up too late watching it all. My daughter made delicious chocolate chip cookies and I think I ate a half dozen of them. No wonder I gained over a pound on the scale this morning!
