When I was in college I trained myself to eat as quickly as possible so that I could consume as many calories as possible so I could gain as much weight as possible. Oh, those were the days. I played football in college an I learned that unless I ate quickly I would not be able to consume as many calories as I possibly could because my brain would eventually catch up to my stomach. I learned to eat mindlessly. Unfortunately, that mindless eating is a hard habit to break.

Last night we were watching the final episodes of season 2 of The Old Man. It is a a pretty intense show and I thought that I needed to have a big bucket of popcorn, loaded with butter and salt, in order to enjoy the experience. Of course I didn't need that, but I had one anyway. I ate the popcorn pretty mindlessly as I watched the intense show. I paid for this gluttony when I got on the scale this morning.

Today is going to be a great day. I have a full day of work to keep me busy and then we are going to see the Wicked movie in the theater. Of course, the temptation will be to order a huge bucket of popcorn, loaded with butter and salt, and to enjoy that during the movie. I am resolved to not do that. If I can keep from eating after 5 p.m. and not have popcorn at the theater, I am convinced I'll lose weight. We'll see what happens today and we'll see what the scale says tomorrow morning.
